Reviews:
* Numbers are appealing here, specifically a sub-$13,000 starting price and 39-mpg highway fuel-economy rating. Equally appealing are the Spark's style and a size that's big enough to hold four passengers yet tiny enough to park where other cars can't. Source: KBB.com
* Energetic acceleration; eager handling; impressive range relative to some other electric vehicles in this price range; cheerful interior design. Source: Edmunds
* If you are one of the growing number of drivers who want a mini-sized car because it maneuvers easily through an urban setting, or are attracted them because you want good gas mileage, take a look at the All-new 2014 Chevrolet Spark EV. An exciting sibling to the Gas powered Spark, the Spark EV is an all-electric plug-in vehicle that will let you say goodbye to filling up at the pump once and for all. Offered in two trims: the 1LT and the 2LT, it comes with a projected range of 82 miles per charge to handle most around town drives. You have three ways to charge the car's battery depending on how much time you have and what is available where you are. The first option uses the standard 120V cord, plugs into a household outlet, and takes 20 hours. The second involves having a 240V system professionally installed, and charging take seven hours. Or find a station that offers SAE Standard Fast charging and fill up you battery 80 percent in only 20 minutes. If you are concerned about power in a small car, the Spark EV will surprise you with its 400 lbs. - ft. of instantly delivered torque. Acceleration in this car is very quick as it goes from 0-60 MPH in under 7.6 seconds, but it feels securely planted with its sport-tuned suspension. It has a strong and lean body, with windswept lines whose shapes are complimented by the large angled headlights in front. Unexpected featu

  • Best electric runabout - Fast, nimble, economical

We had a 2014 Spark EV for three years, and now this 2016 for another three years. My wife and I compete to drive this car versus our larger car. It is practical, and very fun to drive. Small footprint, good use of space with its hatchback. Low center of gravity. Pennies per mile (zero for us, with solar at home). Fast & quiet. We'll be driving this one for many more years. Too bad Chevy is not producing them any more.

I needed a really economical car and did a lot of research. Nissan Leaf, Fiat 500e, Volkswagen eGolf, etc. Nissan was ok but uses its own Chaemo plug for charging and not a lot of infrastructure set up for it. Fiat is trendy and offers a lot of options that the Spark EV does not have like bumper sensors and such. eGolf was expensive and offers more room in the interior. I read a lot about the Spark EV and found that it offers 400 ft.lbs. of torque and found it to be quite intriguing. Never thought that I'd own a Chevrolet but this was actually built in Korea. Once I test drove it, I was sold. Burned rubber right off of the dealers lot! I drive a lot of miles to work and back everyday but still within the range of my Spark EV. Loads of fun driving around town and the acceleration is amazing. 0-60 in 6.5 seconds surprises a lot of cars on the road. There is no transmission lag as it is directly hooked up one speed from AC motor to batteries. By the time other cars are accelerating off the white crosswalk line at the intersection, I'm already 30 feet ahead of them! I purchased a 240v charger and downtime is kept to a minimum. Plenty of storage if you fold down the back seat. Fits in tight spots for easy parking. Wife recently said I was spending $360 month in gas for my Lexus. Bought this knowing we have solar panels, for $130/mo and it pays for itself. Now she wants to drive it everywhere we can go within range and she is SOLD on the Spark EV too! Buy it!
  • Driving Spark EV's for over 6 years - Love them!

We leased a 2014 Spark EV for 3 years, and liked it so much we leased this 2016 car for 3 years, and then bought it after the lease. We have a bigger, luxurious SUV, but the three people in our family always choose the Spark EV first. It's so nimble, so quick, so smooth in acceleration and regenerative braking. It's just the best way to get around San Diego. (And no gas stations, almost zero maintenance, and super reliable!)
